How to make sure I downloaded full res photos on my iphone?

I am trying to disable iCloud Photos because I don’t really need it, and it always randomly gets stuck and use up my internet traffic.

So I went to choose Download originals, then I disable iCloud photos on my device, then I want to disable and delete iCloud photos from my account-

No matter how many times I resync beforehand, and albeit showing “Updated” and with the same number of photos on icloud.com/photos and on the local iPhone Photos app, this prompt keeps showing up when I click disable and delete:

Will “some” of my photos be gone forever in 30days? (with no clue which photos and how many there are). I assume Apple detects at least one photo that is not fully downloaded that’s why it is showing me this prompt. But, how do I know which photos and how do I make sure my photos are all downloaded onto my phone??

KamanleoDickson,

Does it appear that the photos are still downloading? When you have iCloud Photos enabled, the full resolution images are uploaded to the cloud and what is left on your iPhone are lower resolution thumbnails in order to save space on your iPhone. This isn't normally a problem as you would typically only be accessing or downloading one or two photos at a time. However when you are downloading your entire library, this can take a while, depending on the speed of your internet connection and what ever else you might be doing on the phone. Especially when we are talking about ~10,000 high resolution photos.

If you have given plenty of time to complete the download and you are not seeing any additional progress. You may want to Contact Apple Support for more specific assistance with this issue.

Cheers.

Hello KamanleoDickson,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

We understand that you want to turn off iCloud Photos, but you keep getting a message that some photos stored in iCloud are not downloaded on your iPhone. When you select to turn off iCloud Photos, one of the options should be "Download and Keep Originals". Did you put a check next to this? If not, do that and then turn off iCloud Photos again.

Best regards.
