AirPods Disconnecting Only on Calls

Hello,

I’m having a very annoying problem with my Airpods. They are constantly disconnecting and reconnecting whenever I am on a phone call. This happens all the time now. I do not have any issues listening to Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, ect, ect. This only happens during phone calls. It happens with a single AirPod in an ear or both at the same time.

i have tried restarting my phone, forgetting then reconnecting the AirPods and doing a reset. So far the issue persists and I’m having to use the wired headphones for phone calls.

Is this something I’ll have to go into the store to resolve? Anyone have any additional information that can help?

Thank you!

Hi TranquilHermit,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having an issue with using your AirPods with your iPhone to make calls. We'd like to help.

Which iPhone are you using? Are you on the most current iOS? iOS 14.7 was recently released to check if that's available for your device: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Then, head to Settings > Bluetooth and toggle that off and on to see if that helps. Restarting both your iPhone and resetting the AirPods can help too: How to reset your AirPods and AirPods Pro. Do you have a case on your iPhone? If you removed it, and complete the other steps, do you notice any changes?

Let us know how that goes.

Cheers!
