Where can I download desktop version of Apple Books for Windows or older Mac Laptop

I have Apple Books on my iMac, but want to tell someone else how to download the Apple Books reader/bookstore desktop version into their Windows PC or older Mac laptop. I can't find the download site for the desktop versions of Apple Books. Can you tell me where it is? Thanks.

There is no Books app for Windows yet, and books purchased in Apple's store can only be read on Apple devices. I think it says this in the Requirements section on every purchase page. Windows users have to buy their books elsewhere.

Hi, Tom...there seems to be quite a bit of confusion regarding this question. I have the Books reader on my iMac, as I have stated, and it must have come with the Apple updates to the computer. I can read Apple Books on my computer, although some people state that Apple Books can only be read on an IOS device, iPod, iPad, or iPod touch. I will keep trying to figure it out.

That's mistaken, at least since 2013. The Books app comes with MacOS since then. As for getting it on an old machine that does not have it, that could be problematic. Best provide details about the machine and especially what version of MacOS it is running.

The Kindle app is what you use for Amazon books.

Hi, Tom -- I'm working with my brother (across the country) to publish an EPUB book for him on both Amazon Kindle and Apple Books. I have successfully published several of my own books on both platforms and am able to preview them here on my computer before submission, through Apple Books and the Amazon Kindle Reader for Mac, so I know that those readers work! However, my brother works on Windows, although I believe that he does have an older Mac laptop. I think that the best way to do this is to publish the book in EPUB format for preview and have them download the free Adobe Digital Editions reader to preview it on their computers...I know that ADE works, because it also opens my EPUB books here on my computer and seems to be a better choice. Thoughts??

That plan sounds good to me. There are probably other good epub readers for Windows, but I am not familiar with them.
