google search engine app and map app freezing up or slowing down, sometimes crashing

For a while now the google search engine app on the iphone has been freezing up. Takes forever to type something in (I find speach to txting it in works better) because there's like a 15 second freeze between letters, can't scroll down ... keeps freezing up, and if I do manage to get the a web page that addresses whatever I'm trying to find at that moment, that web page also won't allow me to scroll down... and sometimes the app just crashes.


Similar stuff is happening over at the google map app, trying to type in a location and get directions, or pull up the web page or phone number for a business that way...


None of this happens if I use google via a browser app such as chrome or firefox, just for the stand alone apps ...


I have reinstalled the apps no good ...

I have have returned to factory settings and JUST installed the two apps (the google search engine and map apps) and they worked fine...

but then when I did a full install with all my settings and apps, it froze up again.


Nothing else is running at the same time and I do not have a VPN

Given what you have said, it would seem to me there has got to be some corrupt data in your backup that is affecting the apps. At this point, I would contact Google Support and ask them what the best thing to do is. You may be able to delete the data from those two apps and that would probably keep you from having to wipe your phone and setting it up as new. Only Google could answer that question. That is what I would do if it were me. Makes me thankful that I do not use any Google apps except their mail app for my singular Gmail account I need for work.
