Apple TV shutdown procedure

What is the correct way to turn off the latest Apple TV 4K in order to ensure nothing is still streaming and using internet bandwidth?

A. Put all devices to sleep (as with the previous Apple TV)?

B. Long press the new Power button on the Apple TV?

Both actions appear to do the same thing but would like to make sure.

When the status light on the front of the Apple TV is off/not glowing, then the Apple TV is in sleep mode (standby), and wouldn’t be streaming/downloading/uploading anything. Possibly you can monitor this from your router, if you want confirmation?

The new feature of the power button just means that other equipment may also be set to sleep/standby, even without CEC.

The only possible confusion is in turning off (standby) a TV without turning off (sleep/standby) the Apple TV box. That wouldn’t stop the streaming.

That used to be the case, but it’s changed with the newest Apple TV 4K. The instructions now say “Long-press the power button on the Siri Remote to turn off all connected devices.” And when you do this, the light on the front of the Apple TV goes out, and my television and sound system are turned off. You can still put all connected devices to sleep by long-pressing the TV button on the Siri Remote and selecting “Sleep”, just as with the previous Siri Remote.

Regardless, my question is about which of these actions should I take to make sure I’m not still streaming to a turned off television so I’m not burning up bandwidth. My ISP will be implementing capped bandwidth in the future.
