Asus ZenDrive and Macbook Air

Several people have reported that they were unable to get their Asus ZenDrive DVD reader/writer to function with their Macbook Air. I have a 2021 model Macbook and was experiencing the same thing. It worked fine on my PC, bot on the Mac all it did was produce faint click sounds. Would not even open when the button was depressed.

As a last resort I wondered if the Macbook was not providing enough power for the Asus to power up completely. Sooooooo... I connected the Mac's power cord directly to the computer through one of the USB-C ports, then I connected the dongle to the 2nd USB-C port, and finally the Asus to one of the USB-A ports on the dongle. SUCCESS!!!
