Why isn't "command+delete" working anymore but instead it makes a beeping sound?

I'm kinda new to Mac, it's good and all but I don't get why it does these kind of weird stuff.

I'm trying to delete a select few files out of downloads folder but whenever trying to use the "command+delete" keyboard shortcut to quickly get rid of files it makes a beeping sound instead and doesn't deleting anything.

  • Deleting with right mouse click and selecting "move to trash" works.
  • It used to work before, now it has a mind of it's own and won't do it anymore

I just want the convenience of deleting files from the keyboard shortcut. Any idea why OS X won't accept keyboard commands anymore?

Hi wannagobacktowindows, thanks for posting here in Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're experiencing issues with a specific keyboard command. Are you using that keyboard command within the Downloads folder found in Finder, the Download Stack found within the Dock, or both? Mac keyboard shortcuts - Apple Support

Does that keyboard command work if you were to use it within any other folder?

We look forward to hearing back from you.

Cheers!
