Data usage spike recently

Why does Apple Music use so much data in the last 2 months.

Most of my music is downloaded to my phone, and I’ve been charge almost 10go only for Apple Music?!

I’m using wifi at home during 17h to 22h, and during the day, wifi of the office…

what is happening ?

Hello there DominiqueMorin,

We understand you had some questions about data usage on your iPhone. To get started, we wouldn't be able to tell you exactly what the cause is, but we can help get you pointed in the right direction.

You mentioned that some of your music is downloaded, but not all of it. With that in mind, it's easy for streamed songs to quickly use up quite a bit of data. Be sure that features like Lossless or Dolby formatted music is disabled: About lossless audio in Apple Music Otherwise, even just a few streamed songs in these higher quality formats can quickly add up to a lot of data usage.

You'll also want to make sure that Wi-Fi assist is disabled to prevent your iPhone from switching to cellular if your Wi-Fi signal is weaker than expected: About Wi-Fi Assist

If you don't want your device to use cellular data at all for Apple Music, your best bet would be to disable cellular data usage for it as shown in your screenshot.

If you still have questions about the data usage of specific features, check with Apple Support or your wireless carrier.

We hope this helps get you pointed in the right direction.

Take care.
