What is the lower slider of QuickTime 10.5 on-screen controls for?

Hi,

The lower slider of on-screen controls seems to appear only with high fps (e.g. 120 with an 8k or 4k source), but its functionality is unclear; nothing in the QuickTime Player User Guide for Mac - Apple Support; any ideas?

Cheers.

Suppose you film a person hitting a baseball, in high frame rate. Then suppose you decide to start with regular speed, then have the slow-mo effect right before the hit, to a bit after the hit, and then back to regular speed. Then you would need two transition points. To get it just right to your liking, you can change these two transition points in QuickTime editing. Slide the ‘buttons’ to have the effect begin or end at a different time.
