iCloud verification link expired

Hi,

Someone sent me an important note on iCloud, and when I log into iCloud everything goes well until they send a link on my phone to verify my identity.

When I click on the link, I’m told that “the verification link is expired” (in less than a minute after having received it). There was a problem with verifying your email address or phone number. Try opening the shared file again, or try opening it on another device”.

I tried on all my devices and even my partner’s. On some it also advises that I open the Notes app on an updated device. I did on two devices, both the Notes app and the Notes on my iCloud Drive, nothing happened.

How can I resolve this please?

Greetings mlel,

We can see from your post that you're getting an error message when trying to verify your iCloud account.

It sounds like you just might need to verify your information for your Apple ID in order to get the important note. Let's try the steps in this guide: If you didn't receive your verification or reset email. When reading through this guide, really focus in on Step 3 so you can get the verification email resent your way. Once completed, try getting the note again.

Hey there

thank you for trying to help. I assigned a new email address that was verified. I changed my password. My number is verified.

All that still seems to work fine. Until I’m sent a text with a link to click on as an extra verification (of? I don’t know), I properly log in, give the extra code, and then I end up on the exact same message that my link that was sent 30 seconds earlier is expired.

I tried to modify the security questions as well as the outdated link suggested, that doesn’t seem like an option anymore. I can only modify my password from the link you sent me to.

What’s the next step from there?
