How to turn off charge past 90% when using MagSafe battery pack?

Hi, I accidentally turned on the charge past 90% setting under low power mode icon in control center but then found out that I cannot turn it back off… Any suggestions for how to turn it off?

Apple’s formal support can be reached several ways:

So I have the Same problem but you know what? I thought to myself: wait so it won’t uncheck but it says charge past 90% so I charged my iPhone past 90% or exactly to 90% and it disappeared and I tried it again so I checked it let my phone discharge to 89% and recharged it to 90% and it was gone again so that seems to solve the problem 😉

Have a great day!

I love how they totally *didn’t* answer your question. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that it can’t be turned off for the moment. It may be a bug, not sure. I’m seeing the exact same thing on my 12 Pro. Once I toggled it on, it just stays checked.

Is it just me or is it the standard operating procedure in these forums to always drop links to Apple support articles, and then acting like there is no such thing as a problem occurring if you follow the directions? I’ve definitely seen a pattern that suggests that is how they seem to operate.

After only owning the MagSafe Battery Pack for about 28 hours, it seems like the “charge past 90%” toggle will reset itself, eventually. At least that’s what I’m seeing on my 12 Pro. So when you enable it, it will stay checked for the time being. But once you remove the battery and stop using it for a few hours, and then subsequently re apply it, that’s when it reverts back to the default option and “charge past 90%” is not enabled. It’s good for your iPhone’s internal battery, because most of the wear happens between 90% and 100%. Apple was really thinking about the battery health of iPhone 12 series devices by making the default behavior of the battery pack to stop at 90% by default.

The person asking for help wanted to know how to turn *OFF* the charge past 90% option, the only response they received in a week was someone proceeding to tell them how to turn the feature *ON*. I was remarking on how that’s ridiculous. And then went on to help as much as I could, and then later actually gave them the answer.

I never said anything about anyone being obligated to do anything. 90% of all threads I’ve ever seen on Apple Discussions, follow a very predictable pattern. Person A has a problem with an Apple product, then Person B offers to help by pointing them at a generic, not quite specific enough Apple Support page about the product in question. And then sometimes, not all the time, but sometimes, person B goes onto insist that person A isn’t following the directions correctly because product X is working just fine for them.

I love Apple and their products. But sometimes people have problems with Apple products that aren’t the user’s fault and there is no support page that can help.

All of that is the point I was making. I don’t see how any of that makes me “entitled”.

I don’t know what “problem” you are trying to solve. It is working as intended, with the MagSafe battery pack powering the phone (instead of the phone’s own battery). It stops at 90% because batteries should not be left at 100% for long periods of time; doing so shortens the life of the battery. By forcing the phone to 100% you are defeating this protective function of the MagSafe battery pack.

The original question was how to disable “charge past 90%”, because when you check it, it stays checked for the time being and can’t be disabled. But it has been answered that it resets itself with time or by removing the battery pack and waiting.

That was the problem that was trying to be solved. No one here was asking how make the MagSafe battery pack charge the iPhone to 100% all of the time.

How can you be a “community specialist” and give an answer that clearly shows that you have not read the original question? The question is how to turn OFF the “Charge past 90%” feature.

This kind of blind cutting and pasting of answers undermines the value of these forums.

Also the use of an empathy statement suggests this is not really a user-to-user forum:
