Samsung ML-1710 not working - is now working with splix and magic

After reading old posts and trying to get my printer working for days, I finally got it to work. It looks like the post is closed that I wanted to add my experience to, but I'll just repost the topic and link to the blog that figured it out for me. Basically I couldn't even find out where to download splix 2.0 for mac let alone use it. It's kind of abandonware, and I think apple moved some of the printer file locations around, so if you did find a copy it would likely fail. Luckily there are people much smarter than me who know where the files are buried. This blog kind of manually runs splix and utilizes the ppd files in there. It worked for my ML-1710. I'm on Big Sur Macbook pro 2019

They have the old splix for mac file and instructions on how to install with terminal. Very easy to follow, cut and paste. The only hiccup was authorizing a file to run after it was all installed. You can do this by option clicking and opening the file that the mac will flag. Good luck!
