I once got rid of that sound by having headsets and it worked but I forgot how
yesterday I took the headsets off, then put them back big dong is back
I tried everything, music comes out of the sets but If the light on the sets stays after turn off
all would be good but they don't they shut off too
or is there a way to shut all sounds off and turn on only when I listen to music?
I had a trick and lost it - plz any one I would be grateful

You can silence the chime in Catalina without having to use the mute key.
Open Terminal in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder.
To disable the Mac startup chime, copy/paste this command into the Terminal window:
sudo nvram StartupMute=%01
Press enter and provide your admin password if asked.
To re-enable the Mac startup chime, copy/paste this command.
sudo nvram StartupMute=%00
Easiest way is to Mute the Sound F8 key entirely before shutting down the computer
