Can I use a usb-c HDMI adapter on my iPad to play YouTube videos in full screen?

Can I use a USB-C to HDMI adapter to “Airplay” YouTube videos through Apple Av Adapter? Currently it’s just a mirror on the TV, with the iPad aspect ratio on the tv. However, you can full screen play videos through an adapter in VLC, Netflix ect. Is it possible to do that on YouTube?

That’s an image of VLC play a video on the tv through an adapter.
