iPhone says it's linked to an Apple ID which isn't mine

I have an old iPhone 5s that was swapped out by Apple Support in Melbourne in about 2016 due to problems with my new phone. I used it for a couple of years but then upgraded, I am now trying to use it just for music but when attempting to activate the phone it says it is linked to an Apple ID which isn't mine? I tried my Apple ID and it says not correct but I have only ever had one Apple ID. Is the partially redacted email address showing on the screen the ID they are looking for as it shows "r........@msn.com" and I have never had an msn email account? Thank you.

For an individual to remove an activation lock absolutely requires the information for the account that applied the lock. Click on this link to learn 'How to remove Activation Lock' --> https://support.apple.com/HT201441. Given what you have said none of that would help in this situation. If you have never done anything such as lend the phone to a friend, contact the place where you got the phone.
