Apple Watch, activity tracking and sharing with friends?

If I wear my Apple watch all day and share my activity with select friends then mid-day take my watch off my wrist, will my activity keep tracking and sharing through having my iPhone with me?

Activity from phone to watch Is there a way to link your activity from your phone to your watch daily? I can’t wear my watch to work so none of my steps are counted towards my daily activity goals. Hope this makes sense.

If you take your watch off there will be nothing to share.
