Where can I download GarageBand for macOS 10.3?

Just had to have a new SSD drive installed on my iMac running OSX 10.13.6. Garageband will NOT open. It will download the loops then quit everytime I try and open it. Apple have really botched this up. Can't open ANY of my projects to edit them, or record new instruments as it won't OPEN! Can someone help please?

They might have installed the new version for Big Sur. Drag it to the trash (DO NOT empty the trash) and go to the App Store to see if the older version is in your purchases.

Which version of GarageBand have you been using? Did you already switch to GarageBand 10 or did you use the iLife version GarageBand '11, version 6.0.5?

How did you reinstall the system on your new SSD? Did you restore the complete user accounts from Time Machine or did you make a clean install? If your user account has been restored including all preferences, GarageBand may be crashing when you start it, because it is trying to open the last used project.

In that case it might help to remove the GarageBand preferences file. This way GarageBand will prompt you to select a project , when you launch it.

Apple removed my purchase record a while ago, so it's not there. I'm at my wits end. I just need to re-install it on my new SSD running 10.13.6, I can't install any higher OSX because Apple have seen to it that you have to buy another extorionately epensive machine just to update garageband now. Despicable. I've got projects I need to finish, my old drive just died, so I had to get another one installed, as I could not afford a new iMac. Ridiculous situation, my backup disk in time machine didn't work either.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I've tried everything. My last hard drive just died unexpectedly, which didn't give me enough time to backup on to my external hard drive, so I got an engineer to instal (he recommended it), a SSD drive, with a clean install of OSX 10.13.6 High Sierra. 8GB RAM. I was using Garageband version 10.0.3. I can't get Apple to help me with this, so I must be screwed. Apple should still have support in place for long-term users like me. I've been using these machines for many years, but when they go wrong, they really go wrong and Apple don't appear to be interested. I can't get any reasonable response from Apple. just patronising stuff which I just don't need. All I want to do is finish my musical projects in that version. I've downloaded Garageband from different sources, but they don't work either - no audio, no instruments, no effects and no loops - even though I installed them, they do not appear in the media browser, or the instrument lists, or the effects lists, or component lists. I just cannot fathom it out at all. At my wits end.
