Back up

Hi, quick question in hopes someone can help me out.

*I have my Apple ID & iCloud nearly 7 years*

so a few nights ago I backed everything up to my iCloud on my iPhone 12 Pro, once it was completed and everything was backed up I signed out of my iCloud then removed all the photos from my device. When I signed back into my iCloud none of my recent pictures was there, it was all my old photos from my previous iPhone 7. None of the photos I’ve taken on my iPhone 12 backed up. Can anyone tell me why or how I could go about getting them all back?

thanks in advance

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 14

Hi charley284,

Welcome to the Apple Community.

Your photos were likely removed to keep in "sync" with your iPhone.

You may find your later photos were saved in the "Recently Deleted" album (for 30days only) when they were removed from your device.

Delete and recover photos and videos on iCloud.com

Use iCloud with Photos on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

(When you use your iPhone to edit, organise, delete or recover photos and videos, you see the changes on any device that has iCloud Photos turned on.)

It seems that iCloud "back-ups" are different from iCloud "storage" and the various files that we can "sync" over all devices.

What is iCloud Backup?
