The Cricut software can be problematic even on supported systems (no I am not a fan as I hate supporting family members using the Cricut devices which has poor support). Does Cricut even mention their software is compatible with an M1 Mac? If an M1 Mac is not specifically listed, then there is a good chance the software is not compatible. Check with Cricut tech support for assistance.

If the software is not a universal app, then the M1 Mac should prompt you to install Rosetta if you have not already installed an Intel based app previously.

Make sure you are not running any anti-virus software, cleaning apps, or third party security software as these types of apps are not needed on a Mac and they usually cause more problems than they solve plus they impact system performance as well as interfere with other apps and normal macOS operations.
