I am trying to do my student verification and when i do it on my iphone it's not sending me the email to where I can verify it

Filters Getting in the Way:
Disable your eMail filters for a moment, and see if this email comes. When it does, add the sender (the email address), to your Safe List.
Check Various Mailboxes:
View Trash, Junk, and Archive mailboxes, seeing it if resides in there.
