How to I keep pictures from being auto deleted from Imessage

Ever since I started using icloud, my photos get offloaded and I have the option to download them again. I would like to download them all again and not let icloud remove them. I know it takes up a lot of space on my phone and I am fine with that.

Can I delete large messages conversations off of iCloud but keep them on my phone? I have the standard 5GB of iCloud storage however it's always full due to the large amount of data (photos) shared via messages. I would like to keep these photos in messages but delete them off of the iCloud server to free up space. Is this a possibility or do I have to save the photos to my camera roll then delete them completely from messages?

Photos and IMessage Photos Both taking up space (duplication?) Hello, I recently started using ICloud and have regretted it ever since. When I synced up my devices (IPhone and IPad) a bunch of old pictures I deleted from Imessage came back on my devices. I can’t delete a lot of the pictures at think because they had comments on them. Another odd thing is the pictures are taking up storage under IMessage and Photos. My ipad has 57 photos and 13 videos (short) and it shows I have 27 GB of photos under storage. Has anyone had this problem? I have the same problem on my phone although I do have more pictures but not the amount of GB it says. I’ve already looked for solutions about deleting pics and that seems like a lost cause. For those out there who do not use ICloud don’t do it!

want to remove all photos from Messages stored in iCloud My iCloud account is full or nearly full and I want to eliminate photos that are stored in the Messages app from my iCloud account. I've supposedly removed a number of photos, but they don't seem to disappear. Seems like Apple just wants to sell me more iCloud storage. Wish there was a CHECK BOX in Settings for the Messages app that would only keep photos and videos in Messages for a month. That would solve my problem! The photos and videos sent with Messages seem very sticky.

Open Settings ➔ Photos ➔ Download and Keep Originals : Ensure that this option is checked.

After allow some time for all your Photos to completely download on your iPhone from iCloud. In this mode, photos of full resolution will be kept on your iPhone and on iCloud.

Hi, thanks for the response. I do have that setting checked on. I believe that only effects my photos in the photos app though. I am trying to save my pictures that I have had sent to me in iMessage.
