iPhone Home Screen

When I lock my iPhone the screen will not turn black it is just constantly showing the Home Screen. When a notification comes through the screen will not turn off just stay constantly on the Home Screen even though I’m not touching the phone and it’s on a flat service? Is this new for the iPhone 12 Pro or is it faulty?

First try a forced restart

Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the side button. When the Apple logo appears, release the side button.
