Mac mini m1 crashes after sleeping

Disabling sleep does not waste energy on later Macs, the savings are negligible. Shut if away for long periods.

On the other hand, enabling it is all pain. Just disable it: check “Prevent…” and set the timer to turn monitors off.

If you want to investigate this further, we would need to analyze any kernel panic reports that your Mac has generated. Alternately, you can do so yourself. These reports typically (if generated) are located in either the /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports or ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticsReports folders.

I have the same issue with M1 MacBook Air. My Mac started to crash after sleeping for a while when it was connected to Apple Cinema Display. A “genius” guy at the local Apple store told me “crashing is not abnormal for Mac.” He and other support at Apple also told me old displays are no longer supported, so despite many users have been reporting crashing M1 Mac, Apple won’t do anything. I’m very disappointed.

Seems as though disabling sleep mode fixes a lot, it has for me. Not enough power draw at idle to even be concerned about.

It’s a mute point - Sleep isn’t needed, so why enable it in the first place…

Sleeping later Macs is unnecessary unless one likes mystery problems. Disable it, be happy.
