I'm pretty sure I know what and how this was done, but would anyone have the time to break it down for me? Step by step would be very much appreciated!

OK, from my testing here, things only show up under Recent Servers if they have been accessed from that account at some time.
Actually sometimes Apple will change settings with an upgrade or update.
Do others have access to your Mac?
Not too much to worry about with Public Folder though.
Is there computer in your house?
Hello, I hear you, I'm not sure that apple changed my setting in sharing - to on, though. I can't imagine they would in light of the privacy issues. One person, did have access to my Mac. As far as the Public Folder goes, when I clicked on one of the two servers, this pop up tells me that "public folder" and "MacBook Pro" are synonymous?
Thanks for the trial test! So I assume you had to turn on "File Sharing" in both computers? I'm asking because someone did know my administrative password - because it was the same as my screen lock, password - which I had shared (I know better now I didn't then), but most definitely did not ever give them consent to do anything other than web surfing on my computer.
I've just had a hard time figuring It out.
I've also been curious as to what it could mean in terms of remote management ....
To clarify when you say "things" do you mean that another persons computer, in this instance "__________" reynolds MacBook Pro, is listen as a recent server in my computer, because my computer accessed reynolds MacBook, or is it the other way around?
Have you been using File Sharing, it appears that is where it comes from...
I myself hadn't turned on file sharing - but someone else did apparently. I wasn't present for that. Do you know more about how it happens? Thank you.

Yes, things meant computers phones, etrc.
Yes, File Sharing was ON, and with your PW could've sent anything to the public folder.
Doesn't matter much that it was admin password or screen lock password, if the admin account was the one sleeping, being able to wake it would mean logged into whatever account was sleeping it.
As far as Public Folder...
Recent Items - 'Servers' and how they appear in recent items / Public folder = Server? So, how worried would you be?
