extended display option

I want to able to utilize my classic iMac (Mid-2007 with upgraded CPU and RAM) as a secondary display when connected with my MacBook Pro.

My iMac has the following video ports: Mini DVI, FireWire 800, 400 and my MacBook Pro has the following video ports: Thunderbolt MiniDP and FireWire 800.

What option cable(s) will make the extended video display feature work?

iMac (Mid-2007)

MacBook Pro (Mid-2012)

Let m know, thanks.

Networks Screen Sharing may be available. Slow but it works on a very basic level.

Share the screen of another Mac - Apple Support

A standard external monitor will use far less energy and allow extended desktop. Screen sharing can only mirror.
