New Siri Remote how do I close apps?

On original 1st gen remote you swiped up on top part of the remote to close running apps. How to do this with 2021 Siri Remote. I listen to channels/apps like SiriusXM or radio like KUSC which has its own app and need to close them particularly SIriusXM or else it just keeps playing.

How do you use the Siri Remote? I have followed the instructions to work this remote for the 4K Apple streaming device, and it is very frustrating. The "play" button and swipe just is too sensitive, and the holding the edge to FF one can't see what's going by. For a company like Apple with it's engineers, why not make a standard remote with Reverse, Play, and FF buttons like any other remote. Another case of Apple getting a bit too cutesy, or at best, it's lost it's way. . . like why the big deal about a purple iPhone? If Steve Jobs was still around, he'd laugh at these "enhancements".
