New LG OLED 48" C1 (2021) Magic Remote Control of Apple TV Now Working

I was setting up the LG Magic Remote (2021) to control my various devices. One is Apple TV3 (1080p). After scanning this site, the LG site, calling LG Customer Service, and searching Reddit, nothing worked. I swapped out the TV3 with the Apple TV4K (from our family room home theater and now all those suggestions worked - Setting up Universal Control on Magic Remote (which lists Apple TV), and Turning on HDMI-CEC/SIMPLINK. Full control of Apple TV4K from Magic Remote now works!

It seems Apple TV3 is not compatible with the Magic Remote 2021. Maybe earlier versions of Magic Remote and LG OLEDs might work since some of the "its working!" comments are from 2016-17 era.

Apple TV (3rd generation) doesn’t have support for HDMI-CEC.

Apple TV (3rd generation) should be able to work with a universal remote for navigation, when learned the 7 corresponding buttons of the Apple Remote through the Apple TV Settings.
