Restore iCloud backup Skips Remote Management

Hi All.

I am trying to complete a MDM migration and to do this you need to unenroll from One MDM to be able to enroll in the new. Steps taken

1- removed the MDM management from the IOS device,

2 - Backup to icloud to keep all data

3 - wiped the device via Erase all content and settings.

4 - In ABM i assign the device to the NEW MDM server.

5 - start the setup process and select to restore from icloud.

I expected it to restart after the restore and show the remote management screen but it does not.

The only way around this is to restore via icloud to a different device. This process is not practical.

There has to be a better option than this. What do others do to migrate mass amounts of iOS devices to a new MDM and keep the devices supervised.

Changing MDM platforms with iOS devices is a pain. I would love to migrate my org to a different platform, but that entails wiping all iOS/iPadOS/tvOS devices and setting them up as new devices.

An iCloud backup will cause issues here because a device that is in ABM stores the MDM within the iCloud backup. This is why it does not show the device management page.

Unfortunately, the only option you have is wiping and starting new.
