It will not be resolved with any upgrade, because it is not a problem with any version. It is a hardware or software problem with YOUR PHONE, not the version you have installed. I posted a troubleshooting article on the first page of this thread. Here it is again:

Go to Settings/General/About and look at Modem Firmware. Is the entry blank? If it is you need to reinstall it by restoring the phone to factory settings, then restoring a backup. Back up the phone first, of course:

  1. How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support
  2. Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support - follow the instructions to restore using your computer, do not using Settings/General/Reset (which is not included in those instructions)
  3. Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support

If the modem firmware DOES have a value you probably have a hardware problem. The first step is what I just posted, but after that you need to contact Apple support using the Get Support link at the top of this page.

I think there is a common issue on all iPhone 11 and the issue is comming from the motherboard (3V circuit) and Apple knows that but they change only the devices which are in warranty. And that is unfair in my opinion.

Common issue? Unlikely. When there is a common issue there are thousands of posts about the issue, and the major tech sites all have articles about it. Yours is the first I have seen in this forum.

This is an outrage! My phone (iPhone 12 Pro) updated automatically when I was asleep and it now says "No Service"! I'm frustrated! I tried everything from their "support page on how to fix this nonsense" but we all now that the problem is caused by the new iOS update. I cannot believe that I can't use my phone for the whole day! Also I'm not in my native country, so I've paid my network provider some additional packages for roaming internet and calls, and my job is suffering because I do not have my phone active! The phone that I paid ~1200 USD. This is really something that should not happen EVER in the history human kind really! Embarrassment! I think I will throw it away along with my other Apple stuff...

  1. I backed it up to my computer, its also backed up to iCloud
  2. This is exactly the way that I did it
  3. I can't do this step because it won't get past the initial hello screen because it won't "activate" so there is no path to restore. I can't activate by cellular since the restore (exactly the way you suggested in point 2) didn't fix it, it won't restore via finder or iTunes (tested on 2 different macbooks), and WiFi restore fails also. I don't get any restore options at all on the phone and I cannot restore via finder / iTunes because it won't "activate" so won't give me options to restore either.

If it failed then its the 14.7.1 update that caused it to. The top post on the iPhone Reddit right now isn't about this very thing because hundreds of people coincidently all had their hardware fail the same time they updated their phone. Software updates can cause hardware failures, so a hardware failure doesn't mean it wasn't related to 14.7.1 so I'm not discounting that possibility. As long as they fix it tomorrow or give me a new phone I don't really care exactly what failed, I just want to be able to access my phone and 2FA apps, WhatsApp, my mobile only bank, and my covid vaccine certificate again.

Have had the same problem with my Xs. Phone worked just fine, update, phone doesn’t work anymore.

I tried everything customer service suggested which ended in hooking the phone up to the computer and reinstalling

everything. Outcome: Phone is stuck doing the installation (Have read about this somewhere on here, too.) REALLY REALLY frustrating! If someone would have dropped my phone, they at least would have reimbursed me …. but an update frying my phone I am the one having to pay for it (at least that’s what customer service told me.)

You probably have so many points because you don't read what people write and keep posting the same stuff over and over.

You are clearly clueless about how the forum works. The ONLY way to get points is to post a response that the Original Poster in a thread marks as “Helpful” (5 points) or “Solved” (10 points). So my roughly 140,000 points means that somewhere between 14,000 and 28,000 users have marked my posts as Helpful or Solved. It is actually wasting my time to post in this thread because I can’t get any points for posts I add, which might mean that I do it in an attempt to be helpful.

I post the same stuff over and over because, with my years of experience, I know that 90% of people who add a post to an existing thread haven’t read any of the thread they posted to, so haven’t seen any of my previous posts.

sorry that was a fairly snappy response by me, I'm just annoyed the same way you are but from the other side. You get sick of posting the same stuff because you're right 99% of the time something is wrong it's usually the users fault, but I used to work the repair service in a phone shop and now I work in tech, so I wouldn't be here if I at all thought it was anyones fault but apples, and people like yourself and me who do know what to do then have to go through the process with people on the other end endlessly walking you through the same troubleshooting stuff you've already tried before you even made a post.

So I've been on chat and the phone with Apple for hours now just trying to get them to fix my phone and not charge me for it and have done through the endless process of having to troubleshoot, troubleshoot again, get transferred to someone else who asks you to do all the same stuff again, repeat, repeat.

I use a lot of services (including a mobile only bank that does not have branches or a phone contact, and I cannot login with a browser without the 2FA on my phone) that are ONLY available on my phone (and I'm currently overseas so rely heavily on google maps not to get lost) so being without a working one is a huge problem for me so I'm just annoyed at Apple.

Same Problem with my iPhone 12 pro on a T-Mobile Germany plan since the update. The phone stays in edge ca. 15 minutes before it connects to the 4G network.

That is NOT the same problem. The problem discussed in this thread is that the phone gets NO SERVICE AT ALL. No EDGE, no 3G, no 4G, no nothing! If your phone gets edge and 4G that is a totally different problem.

Hello, I recently updated to 14.7.1 and everything was normal after two days I had no service and so far the signal has not lifted. I have already restored the os and nothing so far.. does not work 2G, 3G, 4G

But the strangest thing is that sometimes it makes as if it will work because I get a notification from the mailbox but it does not load the service.

I have a IPhone XS MAX
