iMessage won't open links sent from non-IOS (you have to press/hold, then select open link)

iPhone 12 iOS 14.7.1

links in imessage sent from iOS users open app or browser with one touch of the hyperlink.

links in imessage sent from non-iOS users are active links(blue text) but do not open with one touch, instead I have to hold down the link to get a pop-up menu to 1. Open link(default browser is chrome) 2. Copy link 3. Share... Open link works and redirects to the app or default browser as it should.

Steps taken so far:

1. Restart phone
2. turned iMessage off(same behavior as above)
3. Update iOS from 14.6 to 14.7.1

As a realtor I receive "jump ball" leads where seconds count when those leads are up in the air. Click and hold is too slow.
