My airpod microphone is not working correctly. If I were to count "1, 2, 3, 4, 5...", the microphone would not capture "1, 2" but it would capture "3, 4, 5, 6," etc. as long as there wasn't a break in my counting greater than about 2 seconds. If there was a break greater than 2 seconds, the microphone would again not pick up the first 2 seconds of audio.


So, counting "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10" without anymore than a 2 second break between numbers would result in "3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10" being captured by the microphone.


Counting "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10" with a 3 second (or more) break after 5 would result in "3, 4, 5" (pause) "8, 9, 10" being captured by the mic.


Please help!

So this is actually a question I saw earlier posted by “rifeman” about two years ago. 600 people had the same problem. So apparently, the things causing this problem(microphone delay, microphone more quiet over time) are the filters located under the iron mesh in your airpod stem(the place where cable will normally be but instead it’s your microphone). It accumulates dirt over time and makes your microphone more and more quieter. I don’t know how it can possibly cause delay, but once I removed them, my AirPods worked good as new. I was able to use Hey Siri again, and there was no delay anymore. Just remove the mesh and white paper under it covering your mic, and it should be fine. I was skeptical too at first, but it’s better than buying new ones(I’ve had mine for two years).
