One needs to install the compatible Epson drivers for macOS High Sierra before VueScan will support this device. More recent drivers than the link, are for later operating systems. Recommend that you download the Drivers and Utilities Combo Package Installer from the linked page. It has everything you need and then, you should have the option of using the Epson Scan utility, Apple's Image Capture, or the optional, paid VueScan Professional.
