Stuck in lost mode no WiFi.

Dec 2020 lost my MacBook Air used “find my” Activated lost mode W/ 6 digit code. April 2021 found it, powered it on, entered 6 digit code. It didn’t work. I have only ever used ONE 6- digit code.

Side note: I know what the code should be.

went online and Read apple support forum that said to click lock it again so I did. That did nothing but change lock date from December 2020 to April 2021 still won’t unlock still won’t connect to WiFi. It won’t connect to my WiFi. So it’s stuck in lost mode hasn’t connected to the internet since December 2020, won’t connect to WiFi now. My home wifi info including password has not ever been changed nor Have I blocked or removed any devices in my router and my home WiFi is the only WiFi connection on my MacBook that was allowed to automatically connect to when powered on so it should at least connect to WiFi no matter what but it won’t. I’m not that concerned about losing important data and info. Its all backed up on the cloud.

Going to an apple store is not an option the closest one is 330 miles away.

So any suggestions?

Hello:) Still working on this ...made it a goal to help. Have you tried this ...just gathering more info.

Turn off Lost Mode on an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple Watch

When you find your lost device, do either of the following to turn off Lost Mode:

  • Enter your passcode on the device.
  • In Find My iPhone on iCloud.com, click All Devices, then select the device that’s in Lost Mode. Click Lost Mode, click Stop Lost Mode, then click Stop Lost Mode again.

Note: If you had any cards suspended when you put your device in Lost Mode (credit or debit cards for Apple Pay, or student ID cards or Express Transit cards), when you turn off Lost Mode and sign back in to iCloud, you can use them again.

We will get it or as close as we can. In the end you make have to do a reset but let's work on it a bit more as I do not want you to have a problem with that either. Are you close to any Best Buy store or Geek Squad?

Unfortunately the person I spoke with seemed to be too inconvenienced to help. He wouldn’t let me fully explain what I had and had not tried nor would he let me finish a sentence to even explain my situation. He just kept saying take it to the apple store. Ok well the closest authorized place is 326 miles away from me. That’s a 6-7 hour drive one way. First time in a decade I’ve ever had a rude support encounter. Not happy to say the least. I have another question. Since I am not concerned about the information on the computer itself because everything‘s in the cloud is there anyway I can just completely erase it and start over because I do know my activation lock info as far as that goes I just need to get around the lost mode code. Or what about restarting it in recovery mode please advise?

Yes and today I opened up and I was able able to connect it to my home WiFi but for some reason when I log in to iCloud it still shows it offline and the MacBook is still requesting the lost mode code as soon as the screen comes on. So the only change in my situation is that it is connected to WiFi which is rather pointless because iCloud and find my are still showing location unknown and offline. other than that nothing else has change.

Me again:)We may have to do this... connect to iTunes, press and hold the power and home buttons until a "iTunes" screen comes up that shows the iPad is connected. From there you can reset it, and recover from backup. I am working on one other thing and this should not be so complicated ,right? But at least we know when we lock device ...it IS locked.

Ok well let’s get the information straight

•LOCKED DEVICE•

Model: MacBook Air 11″

Version: macOS 10.15.7

Battery: 100%

Date originally locked: December 2020

Passcode and Lost mode pin: 5683 and 855883

Date found: April 2021

Methods or Remedies Attempted to Unlock Device:

•everyone I could find on the Apple support forum

•Called Apple Support

•Logged into iCloud—>FindMy also tried iCloud —> account settings—> devices

•iPhone—> FindMy —> devices

*none have worked.

•DEVICE(S) AVAILABLE TO ME SO I CAN LOG IN TO iCLOUD•

iPhone XR- FindMy is active. Device is up to date and working properly

iPhone 12- FindMy is active. Device is up to date working properly

Dell Laptop- Device is up to date and working properly

Please note that I am ok if there is a way to wipe and start over. I keep everything backed up on external drives and clouds. This is starting to interfere with my job. So is there a way I can can wipe it clean since I can’t seem to unlock it.

please see pics

also note that the macbook shows it to be 2:18 am which is wrong. The correct time is what the iPhone shows not the MacBook

also note that MacBook shows to be connected to my home WiFi. However when I log in to my WiFi router and look to see what devices are connected it DOES NOT show MacBook.

Please feel free to email me xxx@gmail.com. This was we can establish a communication that can be closer to real time. Then once a solution/remedy had been figured out that can be posted as one single entry. And of course if we aren’t able to reach a solution that can be posted as well. Nothing worse than being stuck reading a long thread concerning a problem that a person is experiencing, hoping for a solution where none is had once they reach the end of that thread.

Hello:) Give this info a read:

If you can't unlock your Mac

After you locate your Mac, you can unlock it by entering the passcode that you created when you locked it with Find My.

If you can't remember that passcode, you have three options:

  • Sign in to iCloud.com/find, then select your Mac from the Devices menu. Select Unlock and follow the steps to verify your identity.
  • Unlock your Mac from your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple Watch using your device passcode.
  • Take your Mac to an Apple Authorized Service Provider along with your proof of purchase.

You may need to go to upper right and click on Get Support as I understand the long drive to Apple store
