Photos importing from SD Card

Photos regularly fails to import all new photos from SD Card on first attempt -if eject card and re insert it finds the ones it failed to import. Happened on 2015 iMac and now happening on M1 iMac

Photos Import Function??? Ever since the update to Ventura 13.3.1, Photos will not easily import photos. It says it's importing, say, 8 photos I've selected from an SD card. That message stays up for at least 20 minutes, but no pictures show up in the Imports folder. I rebooted the machine, and it read the 8 photos from one card. But then I switched cards and it wouldn't import anything. Back to the blank import folder page and 20-minute "Importing..." message. Anybody got any help to offer, please?

Photo import not working Hi all, Wondering if you can help me with this one. I am attempting to import photos from a camera SD card into photos. I am opening my photos library from an external hard drive that is connected to my computer via USB, if that is potentially important. When I open photos, under "Devices" it displays the name of the SD card, and takes me automatically to the Import Screen, where I click on the blue "Import All New Photos" button on the top right. It says it is importing (says x of 3910 photos, and the total rises until it hits 3910), but the photos don't seem to go anywhere when it is done - they don't pop up in the library, imports, or recents tabs. What could I be doing wrong? What would be a good place to start for troubleshooting? Thank you!

Photos: importing from SD card G-D'it... Photos sees the SD card ...and the photos stream out for import. Other, random times, Photo sees the SD card, but will not display the photos for import. One camera will work and another day, not. I have switched SD readers to no avail. Perhaps there is another import program you can recommend? I find Photos quick and easy - 'till it is not! ('latest software upgrades on all my devices) Thanks. Jim.

Thanks, tried it and makes no difference - from 38 photos only downloaded 34, from 30 downloaded 27. If I remove the card then reinsert it it finds the missing files or if I drag them across from a finder window they import ok. There is a .mts file on the card as well as the .jpgs.

Reformat the card in the camera, take some test shots and see if that will fix the problem. Or try a different memory card.

The .mts file is most likely an AVCHD video, high compression and high quality, like the HEIC photos.
