This is not an uncommon problem.

As described, and whilst perhaps counterintuitive, a simple restart of your WiFi Router will usually resolve the issue of a known-good network password being rejected by your iPad.

To restart your home router, disconnect power - then wait at least 30 seconds before restarting. When you router has rebooted (which may take several minutes), force-restart your iPad:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On an iPad with Face ID: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

In view of your difficulties, perhaps the simplest and most effective method of either resolving the issue - or determining that you have a genuine issue with your iPad - is to reset the WiFi Password on your WiFi Router. Having done so, you will be certain of the WiFi Password.

Next, (re)join your devices to WiFi using the WiFi Password you have just configured. In the unlikely event that the problem remains unresolved, you will have constructively isolated the problem.
