Ipad reset with Apple ID password

Here's the situation:

I have an iPad that was provided to me by my employer to do my job. Recently, my employer had their company bought by someone larger and my boss was let go in the process. He is the one who setup the iPad including the appleID login and password.

Since the takover programs required to do my job has changed and I cannot add apps onto the iPad as I cannot get access to add anything without the appleID login and password.

My question is this - is there any way to wipe the iPad and start at square one or am I up Schitt's Creek?

Only someone who knows the AppleID and password used to

initiate the Activation Lock can remove it. Contact the IT department

of your new company for assistance.

You cannot wipe the iPad and start fresh.
