How do I set up a new iPhone 11 with a new Apple ID if I have an old 7 plus with another Apple ID that I would like to not use anymore? I am also transferring my current phone number

I am trying to set up a new iPhone 11 with a new Apple ID. I have been sharing the same Apple ID with my siblings and would like to get a new one. But when I went to set it up no calls or texts went through. Does anyone know how to set up the new phone with the new Apple ID so my same number is used and so I can actually use the new phone to text and call?
