High Sierra Command + R not working.

Recently my macOS got corrupted and upon trying to reboot into recovery mode, all that comes up is the prohibition symbol. I’ve also tried various combinations but they all have the same outcome. Even without any commands when boot up, i get met with the prohibitory symbol. Though the one menu that works is the Start Up Manager.

iMac 27″, macOS 10.13

Try booting into Internet Recovery Mode using Command + Option + R which should bypass the local recovery mode assuming your iMac is capable of Internet Recovery Mode.


It would help to know the exact model Mac you have. You can get the exact model by entering your serial number here:
