High Sierra boot problem - black DOS screen

I have a MBP 8,3 running on High Sierra, lately when I start or restart my MBP it always start as on photo attached, only solution is starting with Alt key and selecting High Sierra.

I have never installed any Windows and the screen looks like a DOS command, no reaction on pressing any key!

Any idea what's going on?

PRAM battery may be dead, PRAM holds the name & number of the startup disk for one...

Have you done a PRAM reset, CMD+Option+p+r...

In fact, do 3 in a row, takes a bit of time.
