iPad available capacity

I just purchased a new Ipad Pro 11 (3rd generation) and set it up using the backup of my Ipad Pro 11 (1st generation). Both are 256 GB. After restoring and only keeping apps I wanted to keep I noticed my old ipad has 95.61GB avail - new ipad only has 57.89. Why would there be such a big discrepancy? What do I need to do to correct the situation? Thanks

Hello

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, you restored your new iPad Pro with an older backup, but the available capacity differs. We'll do our best to assist.

Depending on how the content was transferred, it may still be loading content. We'd suggest to give it some time to finish the restore process and then check again over the next 24-48 hours as it re-calibrates the storage.

If that's not the issue, then we'd check the storage information using: How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch As something must have been either synced or added to the new iPad, during the set up process.

Also, might be helpful: What's the difference between device storage and iCloud storage?

Hoping this helps out, take care!
