Pages Tables - autocorrect deletes "+" plus sign

How do I stop the Pages program from automatically removing the "+"? For example if I type "+2" (without the quotes) in a table and then tab to the next column, it reverts to just "2". I want the + to stay there.

The default cell format is not text, but Automatic. Change the cell format to text and you can enter +2 and advance to the next cell without losing the '+' symbol on the 2.
