Photos repair stuck at 5% for hours

I tried to open my Photos library and had the spinning gear for too long. Held "Option & Command" and chose to repair, but the repair has been stuck at 5% for many hours now. What should I try next?

How is the external HD formatted. If it's formatted OS X Extended (journaled) then here's what I'd do:

1 - force Quit iPhoto.

2 - launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new library.

3 - close the new library.

4 - open your current library with the Option+Command keys held down and continue with the repair.

What option did you choose first: Repair Permissions or Rebuild Database?

Thanks! Repair is over 60% now.

I’m not sure how it happened, but after I force quit and relaunched Photo + option, it showed another Photos library, created 5 days ago. It prompted me for my password so it could continue the repair process on the new library, which I did. When it was finished, the library was completely empty. Weird. I then opened the original library + option & command and started the repair process. Seems like it is working fine now. Thanks again.
