Why doesn't VoiceControl work with Firefox?

I see that VoiceControl works in Safari (in fact I'm using it right now for this). But it doesn't work in Firefox. Why is this? Is there a Firefox setting that can fix it? Or does it require a revised setting, or other workaround, in the macOS?

Dictating In the Safari Searchbar I have just transitioned to a new Mac Mini (Ventura) from the ancient original iMac 27" 5K and surprise, surprise, things don't work quite the same. For the moment, I would like to know the process for using Siri for dictation in the searchbar window of Safari. Right now, I hold Command + Spacebar to activate Siri, hoping that what I dictate would go into the above searchbar but no - the searchbar remains empty and Siri opens a new window that has information related to my query. So what do I do to dictate into the Safari searchbar?

"Start Speaking" command and Voice Over always uses Alex voice I'd like to set up my Mac so it can read aloud text on news websites, but I don't like the default system voice called "Alex". I prefer the "Siri" voices that you can download and enable in System Preferences. However, no matter which voice I enable in System Preferences > Accessibility > Spoken Content, my Mac always uses the Alex voice for everything, even though I have (ostensibly) disabled or "deleted" the Alex voice, along with the other voices that come enables by default. I would like to use the command Speech > Start Speaking and Stop Speaking commands in Safari to read text on websites that I view using Reader mode. Thanks for your help.

Sorry to know about your struggle with VoiceControl and Firefox.

I did a little digging and found this article on the subject at Mozilla blog –

It appears to me that the feature is not quite ready for prime time.
