apple car play waze screen turns purple

I have a 2021 Honda CR-V and an iPhoneXr. Waze works on apple car play but sometimes the screen turns purplish. It does not happen when my phone is connected to other vehicles, though it does sometimes happens when my son or daughter's phone is connected. We have unplugged it and plugged it back in again and sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't. This is an inconsistent problem and it is annoying on long trips. Looking for solutions, thanks
