IMDPersistanceAgent

Hi,

I have this problem that my macbok air's (2018) fans are going crazy. I took a look at Activity Monitor and it said that CPU of IMDPersistanceAgent is about 90. I tried to kill it, but unfortunately it came right back so I'm helpless. I tried to restart my mac multiple times, but nothing seemed to help. Is there any solution to this? Thank you very much :)

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.4

Hi DagmaRSS,

We see you're experiencing high fan usage, and we'd like to see if we can help resolve that.

This page here has some tips/steps that may be able to assist in the "Check for unexpected heavy fan use" section, including trying an SMC reset: About fans and fan noise in your Apple product

It's also possible that an NVRAM reset may be able to help here: Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac

If that doesn't help, you may also explore getting the device inspected at a local Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider: Apple - Find Locations

Take care!
