Uk Holidays in calendar not updating for year 2022

I’m having trouble with the calendar function! I am subscribed to UK Holidays, which should automatically fill in the calendar with bank holidays, all of 2021 holidays are showing, but none are showing in 2022. Has anyone got any ideas please?

A workaround for this problem, which it appears is not going to be fixed any time soon, is to subscribe to an external .ics calendar by following the steps below:

  1. Tap “Settings” on the Home screen
  2. Select “Mail, Contacts, Calendars”
  3. Select “Add Account…”
  4. Select “Other”, then “Add Subscribed Calendar”
  5. Enter https://www.officeholidays.com/ics/united-kingdom, then tap “Next”
  6. Tap “Save” to finish.

After completing the above steps, Public Holidays will be marked in the calendar on your mobile device.

If the fix is not for you, it's a simple case to remove the subscribed .ics

I spoke (actually spoke) with Apple support a few days ago. They have confirmed it’s an known “issue” and will be fixed in due course (no timescale available). Also confirmed it’s not OS related, so not dependent on Monterey (or any other OS.).

Personally I’m not bothered about it showing Christmas Eve or NYE or any other “event” that’s not a B/H (Burns night isn’t a B/H for example but it’s nice to know when it is). But I do want it to show dates beyond 31/12/21!

If anyone is a bit wary of subscribing to 3rd party servers, as I gave earlier:

https://www.officeholidays.com/ics/united-kingdom

there is an .ics file on the .GOV UK website, which only subscribes the Bank Holidays for England and Wales., which you may consider safer:

https://www.gov.uk/bank-holidays/england-and-wales.ics

I also discovered that entering either of the above URLs into the DuckDuckGo Browser from iOS App Store displays the source contents of the .ics file(s), where it's possible to look in more detail for anything untoward!

Since my message on August 20th I've had this email from Apple Support, which doesn't take us much further:

Our engineering Team have just reverted on the issue of the missing UK holidays calendar items after 2021.

This issue is currently under investigation by Apple Engineering Team.

Apple has received reports of the symptom you describe and is currently investigating this issue. Keep your software up-to-date. You may also want to check the support website from time to time for possible updates about this issue. Further updates, if any, may come by way of a software update, knowledge base article or software release.

Apple does not yet have a complete understanding of the issue. Therefore, it is not possible for Apple to promise a solution or predict when any investigation will be complete.

I apologise for the inconvenience to you and hope that our Engineers find a solution shortly.

I don't see UK holidays for 2022 either and it is now late October. I'm looking at both a Mac (Big Sur, 11.5.2) and a recently updated iPhone (14.8). It's worse than that though: New Year's Eve, 31 December 2021, is down as a holiday. I nearly got suckered into making a business-related decision on that basis, but just thought I would check as it is so unusual. New Year's Eve is never a 'UK holiday' and we hardly need reminding of the date! Christmas Eve is also down as a holiday (ditto). (I could go on, of course -- there are plenty of other bogus holidays in Apple's UK Holidays Calendar. Apple should restrict the 'holidays' it puts in the Calendar to genuine ones (known in the UK as Bank Holidays).

[Edit: of course the bogus holidays thing is a result of the different meaning of 'holiday' in the UK and the US. No one in the UK would describe Remembrance Day as a 'holiday', for example.]

i Agree. I have taken to posting Twitter complaints to Apple customer service. I get a response straight away but it just keeps saying there is no fix time but keep updating Blah blah blah. I suggest everyone with Twitter that wants this fixed joins the complaint there- they don’t like public Criticism. Fingers crossed they will be moved to act.
