In the iPhone Reminders app, when I create a reminder with a date and time, the red numeric badge appears on the Reminders app as soon as the time arrives. The badge stays until I mark the item as Done.
When I create a reminder that has a date but no time, the red numeric badge does not appear on the Reminders icon. Is that normal behavior?
iPhone 12, iOS 14.6
Settings / Notifications / Reminders app / Badges is set to YES.

The Reminders app notification badge will only show if a notification appears for items reminders that were set for alerts, usually items that are overdue or when you reach a location.

If I set a reminder for a date and time, the badge notifies me as soon as the time arrives.
If I set a reminder for a date (but no time), the badge does not notify me when the day arrives. Instead, it notifies me the following day. That seems strange. I want to be reminded on the day I specify, not one day later.
Is this how it's supposed to work?
