text msg notification and sounds not working after update to 14.7.1

Yesterday I updated my iphone 8 to 14.7.1 and text msgs and text sound notifications not working. I double checked all the setting, rebooted twice and still no notification or sound. In fact, I tested text receive from my wife's iphone and it simply was not received, until I texted her and then she was able to respond. What's going on?

I ended up contacting Apple Support for my issue. They had me go to:

General>Reset>Reset All Settings

This did fix the issue, that is, until my Apple Watch synced back to my phone. I contacted Apple Support again and they had me go to my Apple Watch app then:

Notifications>**Select the app you need to modify**>Custom>Notifications Off

Doing this stopped my text and call notifications from bypassing my phone. I stop receive them on my watch, but the tones/alerts come through audibly on my phone. I hope this helps (and makes sense)!!

I also connected with Apple Support and also followed their advice in regards to disconnecting my Apple Watch notifications. It's too bad that we have to choose texts to phone over notifications to our watch.

I have also notified AppleTech in the hopes that they can work on a fix to this issue.

Hoping this continues to work.

Thanks for your feedback.
