This was not helpful.

I am not a professional. Just looking to make a spreadsheet type list of chores for myself. I would like to have rows 2 and down to be the normal horizontal boxes. I would like row one to be written vertically so I can get more columns on the sheets. I did not make myself very clear.

I did find the rotate button in the arrange section. It does nothing. How do I activate it if that is my answer

Numbers does not allow you to rotate text in a table cell. Sorry.

There are workarounds involving text boxes. If you're just making a list of chores, though, then that may be more trouble than it's worth.

Have you had a look at the templates at File > New in the menu? There are some that are suitable for lists of tasks.
