Audient MKII not working with M1 Mac Mini

Hi there,

As the title states. What is frustrating is that it has worked previously, but because I am one of the unfortunate souls suffering from the magic keyboard glitch (where it messes up after a certain time) it requires me to restart; which in turn wrecks the connection with the audio interface.

It used to connect, but after restarting, it now no longer is playing sound, despite the audio input going in (you can see the sound levels on the device).

Any help or advice would be excellent. The device preferences should be fine as I have said it worked prior.

Mac mini, macOS 11.5

Update - I found that the id 14 wasn't being recognised on start up too, but I think I have found a solution. In system preferences I had all sounds set to go through the id14ii including sound effects, but the start up chime plays before the id14 has established its usb connection, so I suspect this was causing the Mac to default all the sounds to the internal speaker as it assumed the id14 was not present when it looked for it to play the chime? .... anyway, turning the start up chime off seems to have fixed the problem for me, so far anyway!

I have a Audient ID 14 mk2 on a new M1 mc mini, it looses connection if the computer goes to sleep, but re plugging the usb connection fixes it. Have had no problems with it loosing connection during use. It does reset all output levels to zero every time I restart the computer, so no sound from headphones or speakers, until tuned up. I assume it does this due to the virtual control

wheel, but it is very annoying. this confused me for a while so worth checking if you haven’t already.

Hey SuperstarJesus,

It appears that you're having issues with your Audient MKII device with your Mac mini to where it playing sound properly. Does the same issue happen in a temporary new user? This article shows how to make one, if needed: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac This step shows if the issue is system-wide (in any user) or specifically your user, and can help determine next steps.

If you haven't already, you'll also want to make sure that your Mac mini is fully updated to macOS Big Sur 11.5.1: Update macOS on Mac - Apple Support

Let us know how those steps go or if you've already followed those steps.

Take care!

I am on a Mac desktop with Catalina and having similar issues... I have my sound sent to the Interface and in the ID App can see the signals being registered on the mixer but nothing will go through to my speakers. If you bring up the ID system panel and route the outputs to "DAW THRU" you may get something. Other than that mine cuts out and needs to be restarted all the time. I have lost patience and went a safe route with the focus rite scarlet 2i2... This was a great interface while it worked but between the app and glitches it is a no brainer to move forward to better things

Hi there,

It also does not work for other users as per the test (now I don't know if it cuts in at one point as I can't wait that long). Prior, it used to take some time to filter over but that took longer and longer after reboot on my main user, to the point now I don't believe it works. It as if something happens and it just suddenly decides to work or not.

I am updated to the newest version of the OS as well.

Many thanks for your response.

Hi, I have a similar issue with mi audio interface, an Audient id14 mkii too.

Do you have solved the problem? My audio interface keep disconnecting without any reason, the Audient's firmware is updated and also the Mac is updated to the last version of Big Sure. The Audient's Help Desk doesn't know how to solve the problem, today I will try to change the usb cable, but I think that doesn't solve the problem because the cable that I use now is new, it's the cable included with the audio interface :(

SuperstarJesus,

Thanks for letting us know and trying those steps for us. If you haven't already, you can also ensure that the Audient MKII device has updated firmware. We found these two articles from Audient:

We also found Audient Help Desk link, that shows two different devices (iD4 MKII and iD14MKII), which may also route you to helpful articles, as we want to ensure that device is working right as well: Audient Help Desk

If the Audient device works properly with other devices (if available to test with) or after updating firmware, you can contact Apple Support for further assistance here: Contact Apple Support

Best wishes.
